The scissors-type grab has two jaws hinging on an axis, the pairs of mounting plates of each having sections turning with them and extending beyond the axis. Each jaw (1,2) has a first plate (3,3') whose extension (4,4') is in a plane offset from it towards the second plate (6,6'), whose extension (7,7') is in the same plane as itself. The second plate is situated between the first plate and the offset extension from the latter. The jaws can be arranged to hinge on separate axes (12,14).
