An hydraulically actuated pump includes a first fluid chamber and a second fluid chamber arranged in end to end relation. A master piston is movable in the first fluid chamber. A slave piston is movable in the second fluid chamber. A rigid connecting shaft extends between the master piston and the slave piston. Movement of the master piston results in movement of the slave piston. This hydraulically actuated pump can withstand the adverse effects of molten materials. By changing the relative areas of the master piston and the slave piston, it can also be made to serve as an hydraulic intensifier.
