NEW MATERIAL:A heptacyclic alkaloid shown by the formula (R<1> and R<2> are H or acetyl; R<3> is hydroxyl, H or acetoxy). USE:Showing excellent action on suppression of multiplication of tumor cell strain and useful as an antitumor agent. PREPARATION:Prianos melanos, a certain sponge living in a sea area of Okinawa Prefecture is ground, homogenized, extracted with a proper solvent, further purified by column chromatography and isolated to give a compound shown by the formula. Part of the compound shown by the formula is acetylated in a solvent such as pyridine by using acetic anhydride to give other novel compounds among the compounds shown by the formula. |
