摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a satisfactory communication quality in an optical transmitter-receiver and also to perform bidirectional (simultaneous) communication of bit rates of up/down signals in an almost symmetrical data rate, while controlling cost increase at the time of system configuration. SOLUTION: This optical transmitter-receiver 20 sends an optical signal to an opposite device 23 connected through a transmission fiber 24 and also receives a modulated optical signal that is modulated by using light energy of an optical signal from the device 23 through the fiber 24. In such cases, the device 20 is provided with an encoded optical signal outputting part 21 which outputs an optical signal with encoded data and a light receiving part 22 which receives a modulated optical signal from the device 23, wherein the part 21 outputs such an encoded optical signal as to make the data rate of an optical signal coming from the device 23 closer to the data rate of an optical signal toward the device 23, while maintaining a communication quality.
