PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good charging/discharging cycle characteristic and a high initial charging/discharging efficiency by treating an oxide containing at lest one of function elements selected from tin, zinc, lead germanium and silicon in liquid obtain from nitrogen-basic solvent and metallic lithium. SOLUTION: An oxide used for a negative electrode is preferably an amorphous composite oxide represented by a general formula SnM<2> a M<3> b M<4> c O2 . In the formula, M<2> represents at least one selected from the first and second elements of the periodic table, M<4> represents at lest one selected from halogen elements, and numerals of 0<=a<=0.5, 0.5<=b<=2.0, 0<=c<=0.5 are indicated. This oxide is melted in invert gas for 1 hour to 20 hours. The oxide is broken into specified sizes after cooling, and the oxide pieces arte treated in liquid made of nitrogen-containing basic solvent and metallic lithium. The obtained particles are annealed in invert gas at 300 to 500 deg.C. The above processing is also performed by a solvent method. |
