A fibrous insulation blanket is encapsulated within a polymeric film having an increased coefficient of friction. The polymeric film includes, by weight, between about 7% and about 25% of a particulate material for increasing the coefficient of friction of the polymeric film. Preferably, the particulate material is selected from a group of particulate materials that includes calcium carbonate, alumina trihydrate, diatomite and dolomite and has an average particle size ranging from about 1 micron to about 5 microns. The polymeric film has a thickness between about 0.35 and about 3.0 mils and a density of at least 0.910 grams per cubic centimeter. The particulate material is mixed with the polymeric resin to form an extrudable polymeric resin mixture that is then extruded to form the polymeric film with the increased coefficient of friction.
