A method of assessing cardiac ischemia in a subject to provide a measure of cardiac or cardiovascular health in that subject by generating from a comparison of QT- and RR- interval data sets from the subject during a stage of gradually increasing heart rate to gradually decreasing heart rate, a measure of cardiac ischemia (48a, b) during exercise in the subject.
