PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively eliminate printing density errors according to the performance of a host. SOLUTION: When a computer 26 is equipped with hardware for receiving data, a printer 4 transmits highly accurate data which are held by a machine error information storage means 20 and related to a size of discharge ink drops to the computer 26 by a machine error information communication means 18. The computer 26 as a data correction means 46 corrects image data from an input unit 12 based on the received data, thereby eliminating printing density irregularities among printers. On the other hand, when the computer 26 does not have the hardware, a machine error information output means 24 receives data which are relatively low in accuracy and contain a small quantity of information from a machine error information supply means 22, and prints the data. An operator inputs the printed data of the relatively small quantity to the computer 26 by manipulating a keyboard or the like, and the computer 26 corrects image data based on the data. |
