PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a way for easy moving operation of a retainer. SOLUTION: A retainer 40 is installed so that it can easily be inserted from the side into a housing 20 with a cavity 21 formed. A front-stopping strake 41 arranged in the front part of the cavity 21 is formed integrated with the retainer 40 with a crimped face 48. A female terminal fitting 10 is inserted into the cavity 21 in a state where the retainer 40 is in a temporary lock position and temporariry locked by a lance 22. Next, the retainer 40 is moved to a lock position by putting fingers on the surface of the front-stopping strake 41 of the retainer 40, which fits a salient 46 in a locked ditch 16 to be double- locked. Movement operation of the retainer 40 can be done from the front without using special tools, and that, the retainer 40 can be moved smoothly due to the friction of the crimped surface 48 which restrains the slipping of fingers.
