The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating symptoms of abnormal weight loss, containing a dried orange peel extract or a fraction thereof. The present invention further relates to a method for preventing or treating symptoms of abnormal weight loss using the same. The dried orange peel extract inhibits loss of weight in fat and muscles, bringing restoration of the lost weight. Thus, the extract of the present invention exhibits excellent effects of treating symptoms of abnormal weight loss.
