PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which is excellent in discharging stability for ink-jet recording, can be used smoothly with a fine pen nozzle and has a sufficient concentration by blending at least water and a carbon black which has a specific value for each of the surface oxygen concentration and the sum of the surface COOH group carbon concentration and the surface OH group carbon concentration. SOLUTION: The composition at least contains water and a carbon black which has a surface oxygen concentration of not less than 0.07, preferably not less than 0.1 as an atomic number ratio to carbon measured by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and has a sum of the surface COOH group carbon concentration and the surface OH group carbon concentration measured by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of not less than 0.5%, preferably not less than 0.7%. The surface COOH group carbon concentration is preferably not less than 0.3%, further preferably not less than 0.4%. The surface OH group carbon is preferably not less than 0.2%, further preferably not less than 0.3%. The mean particle size is preferably not more than 0.3 μm. |
