5-amino-4-cyano-3-(5'-nitrofur-2'-yl)-isoxazoles as antimicrobial agents. Cpds. of formula: (R = 1-7C alkyl or 2-5C alkenyl and R' = H or R) are prepd. by alkylating or alkenylating a secondary amino compd. or an acylamino compd. in an inert organic solvent at 30 degrees C. and opt. removing the acyl group. The compds. are used as additives for animal feeds.
