PURPOSE:To prevent temperature rise at the two terminal parts of a fixing means, to reduce the heat capacity of the fixing means, and to attain miniaturization and light weight even when a sheet of small size is fixed successively by cooling a part not coming in contact with a material to be fixed in the fixing means. CONSTITUTION:A cooling fan 19 and a duct 21 that is the passage of the air sucked by the cooling fan are provided at the upper side of a fixing roller 3. The tip of the duct 21 is branched in two directions, and the aperture part of each tip is arranged so as to confront with both terminal parts of the fixing roller 3. The cooling fan 19 and the duct 21 comprise a cooling means, and the air in the neighborhood of the part not coming in contact with the sheet P of small size i.e. both terminal parts of the fixing roller 3 is sucked, and is exhausted to the outside, which cools both terminal parts of the fixing roller 3. Therefore, since it is possible to prevent the temperature rise occurring at the surface of the fixing roller not coming in contact with the sheet, the heat capacity of the fixing roller 3 is not necessary to be increased. Thereby, the light weight and the miniaturization of a device can be attained. |
