PURPOSE:To obtain a safe blood preparation containing erythrocyte and free from side effect of leukocyte by flowing blood in the form of a thin liquid layer on a plastic plate placed above an ultraviolet source and irradiating the blood with ultraviolet ray in the above state, thereby inactivating the existing leukocyte. CONSTITUTION:An ultraviolet radiation apparatus containing six 15 watt ultraviolet lamps is placed close to a box-shaped irradiation part composed of a plastic plate such as polyethylene sheet. A whole human blood incorporated with a blood preservation liquid containing citric acid, glucose, etc., is prepared, introduced into the irradiation box from one end, flowed in the form of a thin liquid layer having a thickness of <=0.10mm, irradiated with ultraviolet radiation in the box, discharged from the other end of the box and received by a separation bag made of vinyl chloride resin, etc., to inactivate the leukocyte existing in the blood preparation containing erythrocyte and obtain the objective blood preparation containing erythrocyte and free from the side effect caused by leukocyte such as onset of fever and viral infection. |
