PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability of a camera provided with a pseudo variable power function and to distinguish whether a mode is the pseudo variable power mode or not. SOLUTION: In the normal mode, the focal distance (f) of a photographing lens is changed and the variable power of the finder magnification of a zoom finder is executed so that a finder picture corresponding to the focal distance (f) of the photographing lens is observed. When such operation that the focal distance (f) is prolonged by a zoom operation member is continuously executed in a fixed time on a condition that the photographing lens is zoomed to the longest focal distance, the mode is shifted to the pseudo variable power mode and a finder mask is displayed within the finder of the zoom finder. When the finder mask is displayed, a range photographed in the pseudo variable power mode and printed is observed and it is informed to a photographer that the mode is shifted to the pseudo variable power mode. When a pseudo zoom photographing action is released, the focal distance (f) is shortened by the zoom operation member.
