PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having a high effect suppressing formation of bacterial plaque by including fine particles each comprising a copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone with styrene. SOLUTION: This composition contains fine particles preferably having <=5μm average particle diameter and comprising a copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone with styrene (PVPST) expressed by the formula: (C6H9NO)n(C8H8)m [preferably, (n)/(m)=(10/1)-(1/10)]. The copolymer is a solid at a normal temperature and insoluble in water and is used in the state of an emulsion, and e.g. a concentration of an aqueous emulsion of 40 wt.% is preferably 300-1,500 mPa.s (measured by a Brookfield viscometer under 30 rpm at 25 deg.C). Preferably, a mixing amount of the PVPST is 0.001-10 wt.%. The composition is used as a dentifrice, a kneaded dentifrice, a liquid dentifrice, a mouth washer, an oral refrigerant or a base composition for adjusting the compositions, and can contain various polishers, surfactants, etc., as necessary.
