PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a recording liquid can be used over a wide viscosity range, a recording dot can be formed with high accuracy at low energy and a high quality image can be obtained at high speed while reducing blur of recording dot. SOLUTION: A recording liquid in a recording liquid chamber 21 is pressurized constantly. When recording is not conducted, a shutter 23 is closed to prevent flow-out and dry-up of recording liquid. At the time of recording, the shutter 23 is opened through a shutter drive section 3 depending on the image information and a push-out opening 22 is opened. The recording liquid is subjected to pressing force and pushed out through the push-out opening 22. After the forward end of the recording liquid thus pushed out adheres to an image support disposed oppositely thereto, the shutter 23 is closed through the shutter drive section 3. Consequently, the recording liquid flowing out continuously through the push-out opening 22 is cut off and a drop recording liquid is formed on the image support without threading. |
