A data communication method of a mobile communication terminal and a device are provided to stop data communication if the terminal which performs the data communication by using a portable Internet network is out of a portable Internet service area, thereby reducing data communication charges. If a mobile communication terminal is out of a portable Internet service area during communication using a portable Internet network, a type of the communication is decided on(S301-S305). If the communication is data communication, a communication method of the data is inputted(S307). If the inputted communication method refers to data communication using a portable Internet network, the data communication is terminated(S308-S313).
