A method and an apparatus for providing a gateway for transmitting an IPv6 packet in a local area wireless networks system are provided to perform a TCP/IP stack of a 6LoWPAN node in a gateway, thereby reducing traffic during 6LoWPAN interval and a load of 6LoWPAN node. A request message for data switching is received from a plurality of 6 LoWPAN(IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Network) nodes. An IPv6 address prefix which is preset up through an address of each node transmitted through the service request message is added. A virtual interface(55) for allocating an IPv6 address is generated. The IPv6 address allocated through the generated virtual interface is transmitted. Interface is performed through a socket adaptation layer(54). When a plurality of 6LoWPAN nodes and data packets are transmitted and received, a file which is currently performed is controlled/managed. |
