PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition in which increase of Mooney viscosity is suppressed and which is good in processability, wear resistance and mechanical strength, and a tire using the same.SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a tire is provided that contains silica having nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 150 m/g or more of 10 to 120 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of a rubber component and a silane coupling agent containing a polysulfide coupling agent represented by the following formula (1) of 1 to 25 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the silica, the polysulfide coupling agent containing 83 to 87 mass% of disulfide body with x=2 when measured by a high speed liquid chromatography and having a pH of 7.7 to 8.2.
