Below a preset value (U3) of shade temp. the control operates in one mode and switches to another mode above this temp. The desired value of room temp. is a linear function of the outdoor shade temp. with a positive slope in the lower range and a negative slope in the upper range. Both these characteristics are displaced parallel to themselves by changes in the difference (delta U) between the solar radiation and outdoor shade temps. Thus with rising outdoor shade temp. the room temp. is allowed to rise. This is consistent with comfort requirements and considerations of economy. In both operating ranges an increase in solar radiation for a given shade temp. increases the cooling.
