PURPOSE:To efficiently apply a precise pattern to the surface of chocolate and obtain the chocolate having high merchandise value, by combining a retainer capable of mounting a plate in the interior thereof with a molding device having specific constitution and a cooler for the retainer. CONSTITUTION:An apparatus is constituted of (a) a molding device 1 having a heater 5 integrally or separately provided on a support table 4, side guides 6 placed on both sides of the heater 5, a vertically movable cushioning device (cushioning unit 8 and air cylinder 9) supported by leg units 10 integrally or separately mounted on the support table 4 and an introduction table 7 of a suitable height provided in front of the heater 5, (b) a retainer 2 capable of mounting a form plate 14 in the interior and (c) a cooler 3, capable of circulating cooling water at a constant temperature and having the same height as that of the molding device 1.
