The flat visual display screen includes a matrix of bistable pixels controlled by "all or nothing", delivering the optical energy at a constant intensity and time modulated by the video signal. The screen comprises means for carrying out the scanning by a group of several k pixels which are simultaneously activated, means being furthermore provided to adjust, at will, the ratio k between the duration ts of activation of the current pixel and the duration t of storage of the said pixel in memory.
