PURPOSE: To miniaturize a power supply part and to reduce cost by sealing a material for helping discharging of a lamp for supplying a pumping energy to a laser medium and two electrodes into a lamp envelope and setting the frequency of a current with a repetitive waveform to a specific high frequency. CONSTITUTION: An optical head 22 has a pair of mirrors 30 and 32 for forming one optical resonator in combination, and each pumping section 34 contains a pair of discharge lamps 36 with 8 kW for supplying light for pumping to a laser element 38. Two lamps 36 and the laser element 38 are enveloped by one reflector in each pumping chamber 34. Since a power supply part operates with a relatively high frequency, the cost and size of the power supply part are smaller than before. The time constant of the lamps remarkably functions at a higher frequency than 5 kHz, thus flattening a ripple in the output power of a laser system. |
