A method of cleaning a surface of a cam (12, 14) of a tablet press (10), in which tablet press (10) the cam (12, 14) is adapted to operate on a plurality of punches (16, 18) which press the tablets, is disclosed. Each punch (16, 18) has a punch shaft (22) and a punch head (24) attached thereto. The method includes the steps of removing the punches (16, 18) from the tablet press (10); replacing at least one of the punches (16, 18) with a cleaning tool which has a tool shaft similar to the punch shaft (22) of the punch (16, 18) and a tool head attached to the tool shaft, the tool head being adapted to clean the surface of the cam (12, 14); and rotating the tablet press (10) to allow the cleaning tool to clean the surface of the cam (12, 14). In this way, inaccessible areas of the cams (12, 14) may be cleaned while still in situ. |
