PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress crosstalk caused by fluctuations of information signal line voltage when driving a liquid crystal element having a V-shaped optical characteristic on one side in an active matrix way and color-displaying in a field-sequential system. SOLUTION: An average of the voltages applied to the information signal lines is made to be 0 V by applying a compensation voltage having the reverse polarity to the information signal and having the same absolute value as the information signal lines in each horizontal scanning.
