[PROBLEMS] To provide a text data reproducing device for allowing, e.g., a portable telephone to be used as a text data reproducing device for reproducing text data from a composite sound signal where karaoke words are embedded. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS]A text data reproducing device includes a receiving section for receiving sound propagating through the air, a buffer serving as storage means, and an application to reproduce text data. The receiving section receives a composite sound signal generated by embedding text data representing song words in karaoke music data.The music data and the text data both constituting the composite sound signal each include time information for synchronizing with each other. The buffer stores a predetermined quantity of text data extracted from the composite sound signal. The application reproduces and displays the text data stored in the buffer in synchronization with the music data according to the time information.
