The air-supported hangar-type structure has an external contour, formed by a circular arc, in the shape of a compound curve, the object being to develop a configuration in which max. floor area is achieved without exceeding a predetermined height for the structure and with sides as step as possible, so as to provide max. usable interior volume. The contour of the hangar is formed by two, or more, abutting circular arcs, with rigging to the base point of the hangar provided in the area of the line of contact. The arc forming the roof is pref. of a greater radius than the arc forming the side-wall. The rigging is pref. in laminar form, or effected by means of cables in the corner area. The same air pressure is pref. present on both sides of the rigging. Heating and ventilating requirements are reduced, and effective wind-loading resistance is provided.
|
