A gas turbine is fitted with a catalytic burner contg. a thermally stable and oxidn. resistant metallic monolith which has many through passages for the catalytic combustion of the combustion gaes and of the injected fuel. The passages are so designed that the pressure drop of the gas/fuel mixt. is 10%. Catalytic combustion of a part of, or of all fuel can now be utilised in a gas turbine without requiring an excessively high throughput of air and fuel. The concn. of pollutants in the exhaust gas is reduced considerably.
