PURPOSE:To make a combustion chamber in an ideal hemispherical form by a structure wherein the axes of five valves are arranged radially and slantwise with respect to the axis of a cylinder and four valves out of the five valves are driven through rocker arms and the remaining one valve is driven directly by a camshaft. CONSTITUTION:Three suction valves and two exhaust valves or two suction valves and three exhaust valves are provided per cylinder. The axes X1-X1 of five valves are arranged radially and slantwise with respect to the axis O1 of a cylinder. Two camshafts 16 and 17 are arranged. One valve out of three is open and closed directly by the camshaft 16, while the remaining two valves are driven through rocker arms 19 and sub-rocker arms 32 by the camshaft 16. The other two valves are driven through rocker arms 19 and sub-rocker arms 32 by the other camshaft 17. Due to the arrangement as mentioned above, a combustion chamber can be made in a hemispherical form and consequently the combustion efficiency can be improved. |
