PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cracking and peeling of a castable refractory used for lining a vessel for a molten metal such as a ladle for molten steel and improve the durability thereof. SOLUTION: This castable refractory is obtained by adding a polyvalent metal salt of a hydroxycarboxylic acid in an amount of 0.05-5 wt.% expressed in terms of solid content and outer percentage and a sulfuric salt or a phosphoric salt in an amount of 0.05-5 wt.% expressed in terms of solid content and outer percentage to a composition containing Al2 O3 and MgO as main constituent components and having <0.5 wt.% CaO content. The composition preferably contains Al2 O3 and MgO as the main constituent components and preferably has <0.5 wt.% CaO content and <0.5 wt.% SiO2 content. |
