PURPOSE: To provide a method for forming optical elements capable of rapidly controlling temp. for formation necessary for plural independent forming block and simultaneously and continuously forming the inexpensive and different optical elements with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION: Plural pieces of optical element blocks 17 placed in the plural independent forming blocks 11 are simultaneously thrown into a chamber 2. Plural pieces of these optical element blanks 17 are simultaneously heated to soften and press formed under the same forming conditions while respective stages of heating stages 3, 4 having temp. control block 27 and igniting means 8, press forming stage and cooling stage 6 are moved at desired optical element forming temp. profiles.
