PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved artery embolic element for completely sealing a subcutaneous pierced area and reducing the possibility of breaking a blood vessel wall when applying extracting force to the artery embolic element for energizing the embolic element to the blood vessel wall. SOLUTION: The artery embolic element 10 has a slender central portion 11, relatively more rigid, or thicker, and a more flexible outer edge portion 12. The embolic element is so directed as to pass through the pierced area 3 with the axis of the central portion to be coaxial with a blood vessel 2 as a whole. In extraction, the central portion rests in the blood vessel around the pierced area and in two regions 8 linearly opposed along the length of the blood vessel. These regions represent the strongest regions around the pierced position and safely support rotting force. At the same time, a thinner peripheral edge portion, easily foldable to be fitted into an insertion instrument, is adaptable to the blood vessel wall and function as effective sealing means. |
