Selamectin or a derivative, which has the formula (I), is used to treat or prevent parasitic infections in and on a young animal where the medicament is administered to the female parent of the young animal over a period commencing before and ending after parturition. The animal is either a companion animal such as a cat or dog or a livestock animal.
