A portable circular saw (1) is detachably fastened to the underside of an auxiliary device (2). The auxiliary device comprises a flat base part (3), designed like a work plate and carrying the portable circular saw, as well as a slide element (4) guided in a slidable manner relative to the base part (3) by means of guide elements (61) as well as sliding shoes (62). The slide element (4) extends in a board shape across the base part and is in two parts (41, 42), these two parts being connected to one another via a bridge-like passage (7) for the saw, so that the slide element can be guided over the saw. The guide elements and sliding shoes extend beyond the slide element and on both sides of its longitudinal edges form supports for a workpiece (5). One of the two longitudinal edges is designed as a rectilinear bearing edge (43), and a stop rail (9), the angle of which can be adjusted, is arranged at the other opposite longitudinal edge in the area of the bridge-like passage (7).
