PURPOSE:To stably operate an oxygen blast furnace, by continuously detecting changes in the amts. of oxygen and pulverized coal blown from a tuyere and by controlling the feed of gas for regulating the temp. of the tip of the tuyere in accordance with the changes so as to make the temp. of the tip of the tuyere constant. CONSTITUTION:When an oxygen blast furnace is operated by blowing oxygen 11 and pulverized coal 13 from a tuyere together with gas for regulating the temp. of the tip of the tuyere, the flow rates of the oxygen 11 and the pulverized coal 13 are measured with flowmeters 1, 3 fitted to oxygen and pulverized coal feeding lines, respectively. The signals are sent to an arithmetic unit 4 and the unit 4 calculates the amt. of the temp. regulating gas required to attain the desired temp. of the tip of the tuyere according to a prescribed formula for calculating the temp. of the tip of the tuyere and regulates the flow rate of the gas through the flow rate regulator 2. Thus, the temp. of the tip of the tuyere is made constant and the economical operation of the blast furnace is carried out in a stable and accurate way.
