PURPOSE: To provide a projection type head lamp for an automobile which presents fine appearance at the time out of lighting and can be fabricated at a lower cost than according to a conventional structure by designing so that a projection lens is secured to an extension reflector. CONSTITUTION: A lighting chamber is bounded by a lamp body 10 and a front face lens 11 and accommodates such elements as a reflector 32 in substantially elliptical form, light source 34, shade 35 for forming a cutoff line for low beam, a projection lens 36, and an extension reflector 60 to conceal the periphery of the projection lens 36. In this head lamp, the lens 36 is provided in a single piece with the extension reflector 60, and a unit 31 consisting of the reflector 32, light source 34, and shade 35 in a consolidated structure is supported in such a fashion as to be tilted by an aiming mechanism (13b, 15b, 17b). Thereby the extension reflector 60 is continued to the lens 36 without gaps, and it is possible to establish a fine appearance of lamp, eliminate necessity for provision of a lens holder which has been necessary in a conventional configuration, and lessen the number of component parts in use. |
