PURPOSE: To obtain a vehicle-speed detection apparatus by which the vehicle speed of a running body can be detected singly without a need of a signal from the outside by a method wherein a gravity component is separated from an acceleration component contained in an acceleration signal and from the gravity component and only the acceleration component is extracted. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle-speed detection apparatus A is carried on a running body (a car), and the car is run on a slope. In this case, since the output of a gyro 3 which detects the inclination of the car is an angular velocity, it is integrated and computed in a rate integrating and processing operation, and a slope angle is computed. On the basis of the angleθ, the advance direction component of an acceleration can be separated from a gravity component. That is to say, a CPU 7 computes the inclination angleθon the basis of an angle obtained by the gyro 3, and the influence (the gravity component)αof gravity by which the inclination of the car is given to an accelerometer 2 is computed. By an advance acceleration extraction and processing operation, the componentαis separated from an acceleration component contained in an accelerationγobtained by the accelerometer 2 and from the componentα, an acceleration (a) in an advance direction is computed, the obtained acceleration (a) is integrated and computed in an acceleration integration and speed computing and processing operation, and the vehicle speed V of the car is found. |
