POLLUTANT DECOMPOSITION METHOD AND APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy and efficient pollutant decomposition method and apparatus capable of carrying out decomposition at a low running cost. SOLUTION: The pollutant decomposition method comprises a step of decomposing a pollutant by radiating light from a light radiation means to an object air to be treated which contains chlorine obtained form functional water and the pollutant. In the method, a decomposition treatment route having an introduction region for the object gas to be treated and a discharge region is formed, the object gas is passed through the decomposition treatment route, and an occupation region (a) of the light radiation means and a non-occupation region (b) are arranged in this order from the upstream to the downstream side in the object gas flow direction in the decomposition treatment route so as to decompose the pollutant in the occupation region a and the non-occupation region b. The invention also provides a pollutant decomposition apparatus for the method.
