摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a distribution error of power in an array waveguide part and to improve the crosstalk characteristics of an array waveguide grating by providing the respective waveguides of the array waveguide parts with light power variable mechanisms. SOLUTION: The array waveguide grating has several pieces of the input waveguides 1, the array waveguide 3 consisting of the many waveguides mounted at the opposite end of the input side slab waveguide 2 made incident from the input waveguides 1 and the light power variable mechanisms 6 which are connected to the waveguides constituting the array waveguide 3 and are capable of controlling a coupling rate. Further, the grating has an output section 8 which takes out the light branched from the array waveguide from the light power variable mechanisms 6, an output side slab waveguide 4 mounted at the other end of the array waveguide 3 and several pieces of the output waveguides 5 mounted at the other ends of the slab waveguide. The coupling rate is controlled by changing the refractive indices or shapes in the light power variable mechanism 6 in accordance with the measured data.
