Register control device for rotary printing machines - has web and printing cylinder scanned by sensors and an error signal derived for register control

In the printing machine a web to be printed passes consecutively through several printing units. A register controller derives from a register error a control signal for a register control element. The device includes a web sensor provided before the following printing unit which delivers a signal when a mark printed by the preceding printing unit passes it. A cylinder sensor provided at the following printing unit cylinder before the slot delivers a cylinder sensing signal when a mark on the cylinder passes it. An evaluation circuit compares the web with the cylinder and derives an error signal from the web sensing and the cylinder sensing signals. A circuit converts the error signal into an actual value for register control.
