The man powered glider has the power linkage fitted with spring energy storage elements while other power linkages convert the even torque from the operator into the periodic torque peaks required for the wings. The wings are held in the optimum setting for take-off while the drive is through the wheels. The additional power for take-off is taken from storage elements charged prior to take-off. The wings are set to swivel about their axes for trim control, while the tail sections are jointed for optimum lift. The deisgn enable manual flight to be possible with smooth torque demands on the operator.
|
