Carbenoxolone di:carbosine salt - with synergistic antiinflammatory and antiallergic activity

Carbenoxolone di-carnosine salt (I) is new. (I) is prepd. in a conventional manner by combining 1 mol. carbenoxolone with 2 mol. carnosine. Both carbenoxolone (18 beta-glycyrrhetinic acid hydrogen succinate) and carnosine (N-beta-alanyl-L-histidine) have anti-inflammatory and antiallergic properties. Their salt (I) combines their properties synergistically and is useful in the treatment of wounds, mucous membranes and ulcers.
