Animal food can contain 2-methyl-3-mercaptothiophene and/or 2-ethyl-3-mercaptothiophene as flavouring agent. The addition of 2-methyl-3-mercaptothiophene and/or 2-ethyl-3-mercaptothiophene to an animal food alters the flavour or aroma in such a way that the animals show preference for this food.
