摘要 |
A method of thermally insulating induction-heated crucibles and melts in crystal growth, uses carbon-bonded carbon fibres as thermal insulation (2,3) of a crucible (1) within an induction coil (4), without screening the crucible or melt from the alternating electromagnetic field. The crucible (1) may consist of vitreous carbon or graphite (used at up to 3000 deg C), metal (e.g. carbide-forming metal, or metal forming an eutectic mixture with carbon), ceramic or quartz glass.
