PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new peptide containing an amino acid sequence having high homology along the whole length of a specific amino acid sequence effective for treating and diagnosing metabolic defect of diabetes, obesity, etc., eating disorder, cardiovascular disorder, depression, cancer, etc. SOLUTION: This isolated new LEPRGRP polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 70% homology of an amino acid sequence of the formula along the whole length. The LEPRGRP polypeptide and polynucleotide are useful for treatment, diagnostic assay, etc., for metabolic defect including diabetes and obesity, eating disorder, cardiovascular disorder, CNS disorder including anxiety and depression, genital disorder, generative disorder, cancer, etc. This polypeptide is obtained by incorporating a polynucleotide obtained by an EST analysis from a cDNA library derived from an mRNA in a sell of human lung, main artery, brain, etc., by standard cloning and screening into an expression system and expressing the polypeptide in an adaptable host cell. |
