摘要 A system and a method for fast handoff in a mobile network are provided to minimize the time of communication interruption by enabling an mobile node to previously receive an RA(Router Advertisement) message of another subnet zone to which it will be handed off and previously creating a new IP address through an IP auto-configuration method so that the handoff can be executed seamlessly. An MN(Mobile Node) transmits an RtSolPr(Router Solicitation for Proxy) message to a PAR(Previous Access Router) in case RSSI of the PAR is below the RSSI of an NAR(New AR)(501). The PAR, receiving the RtSolPr message, sends a PtRtAdv(Proxy Router Advertisement) message containing neighbor AR or AP information to the MN(503). The MN, receiving the PtRtAdv message, acquires subnet IP address information of the neighbor ARs. Afterwards, in case handoff to the NAR is required, the MN transmits a FBU(Fast Binding Unit) message to the PAR(506). The PAR, receiving the FBU, sends an HI(Handoff Initiate) message to the NAR(507). The NAR, in response to the HI message, transmits an HACK(Handoff Acknowledge) message to the PAR(509). The PAR sends an FBack(Fast Binding acknowledge) message to the MS(511).
