Providing control programs for machines or equipment - using two keys with cursor control for symbol selection and calling of other functions

A microcomputer (11), having a LCD (10) and a cursor control (19) with two additional keys (SEL, ESC), is linked to a stored-program controller (16) by a two-wire line (29). The display panel (28) shows symbols and basic circuit configurations representing the necessary connections. All stored symbols can be rendered selectable by one key (SEL) and presented in chosen areas of the display by cursor movements. The other key (ESC) affords alternative functions. ADVANTAGE - User of programmable controller can provide control program for computer of program control without knowledge of programmer.
