PURPOSE:To prevent back-turning at the edge part of a web and thick coating and to perform high speed coating, by spraying air to the edge part of a support from the inside of the non-coating surface of the support in a crosslinking part of a coating liquid consisting of a coating rod and a weir member. CONSTITUTION:In a method for coating a long flexible support such as a photographic film or printing paper with a liquid coating composition, an air jet nozzle 13 is provided above a rod 2 and a liquid sump 8. The jet nozzle 13 is applied to the edge part of the web from an oblique upward part with respect to the non-coating surface of the web 1. By this method, the back-turning of the coating liquid at the edge of the web 1 and the thick coating of the edge part are prevented and high speed coating and drying is made possible and quality is enhanced. |
