<p>PURPOSE:To directly measure the rind color of a banana fruit and monitor its maturing degree from the outside of a maturing chamber by emitting a monochromatic light having a specified wavelength to the rind surface of the banana fruit, and detecting the reflected absorbed light. CONSTITUTION:A monochromatic light of 680nm is emitted to the rind surface of a banana fruit 2 from a spectrophotometer 4 on the outside of a working chamber' 1 through an optical fiber 3, and the reflected absorbed light is incident to a detector 5 in the spectrophotometer 4 through the optical fiber 3 followed by photoelectric transformation. After A/D-converted by a color discrimination controller 6, it is temporarily stored in a CPU 9 in a management chamber 8 through a communication line 7. Further, a monochromatic light of 480nm is emitted to the rind of the banana 2 from the spectrophotometer 4, and the reflected absorbed light is stored in the CPU 9 by the same procedure. In the CPU 9, a-a'=DELTARa...n-n=DELTA'Rn is calculated, wherein a-n is the reflected absorbance at 680nm, and a'-n' is the reflected absorbance at 480nm. DELTARa-DELTARn is converted into the rind color of the banana, and displayed on a CRT to monitor the maturity.</p> |
